Iga Swiatek ‘not ready to answer that question’ and apologises to reporter

Iga Swiatek, the world-renowned Polish tennis star, has faced several challenging moments during press conferences, reflecting her commitment to professionalism and respect within the sport.

During the 2023 French Open, after a dominant third-round victory where she won 6-0, 6-0, a reporter inquired about her “bagel factory,” referencing her frequent 6-0 set wins.

Swiatek responded firmly, stating, “I don’t really want to talk about that.

From a player’s point of view, I have to be respectful to my opponents… I just want to focus on my tennis with all due respect to my opponents.”

In another instance at the Italian Open, following her third-round win over Yulia Putintseva, Swiatek was asked about the attention given to tennis legends Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

The journalist questioned why the spotlight wasn’t on her, despite her No.

1 ranking. Swiatek, appearing puzzled, replied, “I think there is some attention on me, but I totally understand why Rafa and Novak, they have such a huge fan base… I don’t understand the question honestly.”
