Shooting Shuts Down Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls: Claims Three Lives and Several Injuries

Niagara Falls, ON — A night meant for fun and entertainment turned into tragedy on April 8, 2022, when a shooting broke out near the popular Great Canadian Midway on Clifton Hill. The incident, which occurred just after midnight, claimed the lives of three young individuals and left several others injured.

Niagara Regional Police responded quickly to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others, both under the age of 18, were airlifted to a nearby hospital. Despite the critical nature of their injuries, both survivors were later reported to be in stable condition.

In the immediate aftermath, authorities shut down the entire Clifton Hill strip—one of the city’s busiest tourist attractions—to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Investigators launched a full-scale homicide investigation and released details about a vehicle of interest: a blue Ford F-150 Super Crew pickup truck seen fleeing the scene.

A few months later, a 17-year-old male from Mississauga was arrested in connection with the shooting. He faced several serious charges, including attempted murder and firearm-related offenses. His identity remains protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The shooting shocked the Niagara Falls community and cast a shadow over one of Canada’s most iconic tourist destinations. As the investigation continues, residents and visitors alike are calling for increased safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
