Attempted murder charges laid for head-on crash in Niagara Falls last fall that police say was deliberate
A 52-year-old Niagara Falls man who was in a head-on crash on Kalar Road in Niagara Falls last fall is now facing charges of attempted murder.
The collision occurred on Kalar Road near Montrose Road at about 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 9, Niagara Regional Police said.
A 52-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Equinox northbound on Kalar collided with a Jeep Compass being driven by a 63-year-old woman, who had two passengers.Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics took both drivers to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics took the two female passengers in the Jeep, aged 63 and 64, to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
On Thursday, police said investigation by detectives in the NRP collision reconstruction unit has given cause to believe the man deliberately caused the crash.
ARTICLE As a result, he has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
Police said the accused did not know the occupants of the other vehicle.
