Niagara Falls Police continue investigation into officer who shot a man following a chase
At the conclusion of the pursuit, as officers approached the vehicle, the vehicle began to drive toward the officers, one officer discharged their firearm, striking the driver of the vehicle,” Niagara Falls Police said.
The driver was taken to Erie County Medical Center with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
The identities of the officer and the driver have not been released at this time.
A spokesperson for the City of Niagara Falls said, “As soon as the investigation is completed, we will be able to provide complete information on the incident.”
New York State Police were also at the scene.
“We are providing safety assistance in the area and any other assistance needed,” a state police person said.A Buffalo man will serve 6-years in prison for a series of shoplifting at multiple City of Buffalo stores.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man will be serving prison time for a series of shoplifting incidents that happened at multiple stores in the City of Buffalo.
Corey Alan Anthony, 36, was sentenced on Thursday afternoon in Erie County Court to a determinate sentence of 6 years in prison followed by 5 years post-release supervision.
In January of 2023 Anthony had been arrested for shoplifting at a home improvement store on the 2100 block of Elmwood Avenue in the City of Buffalo. Anthony was then caught at the same store in March of 2023 for stealing merchandise.
During the March incident Buffalo Police had confronted Anthony who had items inside his jacket. He was later identified as the suspect in seven other thefts at the store that had been caught on surveillance camera between January of 2023 to June of 2024.
Anthony had also displayed a hypodermic needle while leaving the store with stolen items during an incident on June 15, 2024 that was caught on camera.
He was also identified as the thief at a grocery store on the 300 block of Amherst Street in the City of Buffalo on eight separate occasions spanning from September 2023 to June 2024In June of 2024, Anthony shoplifted from an auto repair shop on the 400 block of Hertel Avenue in the City of Buffalo.
Anthony had participated in an Opioid Intervention Treatment Court program and was released on his own recognizance at the time pending prosecution for several larceny-related cases in Buffalo City Court. He failed to appear, and a City Court judge issued a bench warrant.
An Erie County Court judge who issued an indictment warrant after he failed to appear again for his scheduled arraignment on June 6, 2024.
On June 19 2024, Buffalo Police arrested Anthony and he was held without bail at his arraignment.
In January of 2025, he pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery in the first degree, one count of grand larceny in the third degree, and fifteen counts of burglary in the third degree. He pleaded guilty to all of his charges ahead of his scheduled trial. As part of his sentencing proceeding, Anthony was ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution. Orders of protection were issued on behalf of the stores he shoplifted from, which remain in effect until 2038.
