United Airlines Announces Important Change for Travelers

Sometimes, changes can take much longer to implement than expected. Over the years, many airlines have learned this phenomenon first-hand, announcing that something will be launched by a certain date only to have to backtrack and make that change months or even years later.

Such is the case with United Airlines, which is the third largest airline in the U.S., according to Air Advisor, with stops in more than 60 countries.After a lengthy delay, United Airlines will finally unveil their new flight attendant and staff uniforms, which were designed by Tracy Reese and Brooks Brothers, this spring.

Flight attendant are expected to wear their new uniforms starting on May 28, 2025, following about a decade in their current uniforms.

“The rollout follows extensive wear tests and employee feedback, with final adjustments still underway,” notes Aviation A to Z in an April 19 feature. “The new uniforms replace a decade old design, featuring United’s signature blue hues and modernized functionality.

“United Airlines initially announced its plan to change employee uniforms in 2017, looking to create a cohesive and modern look for their staff, including pilots, flight attendants and ground staff. Over time, United made changes to the new design, and then when the pandemic hit in 2020, the airline temporarily paused the project, according to Aviation A to Z. But, in 2023, they unveiled a reworked version of the uniforms featuring United’s trademark two shades of blue.
